Case Study No. 8: House extension in London

Planning permission granted for a house extension in north London.
We provided design advice to assist in the preparation of drawings for a two
storey extension to a semi-detached house in north London. That followed a review
of the Council’s planning policies and supplementary guidance. We prepared a
Planning Statement to accompany the application, and which included a review of
the area’s character, and examples of similar development elsewhere.
We successfully argued that, despite previous extensions, the scheme would appear
visually subordinate to the original property, that the area’s character and
appearance would not be harmed, and that the neighbours’ living conditions would
be protected. Planning permission was granted.
