Case Study No. 2: Creation of a new vehicular access and erection of an outbuilding associated with a converted barn in Worcestershire

Planning permission granted.

We met our client on site to discuss how best to achieve a new vehicular access through the open countryside to a converted barn, and an outbuilding.

We submitted a planning application, supported by a Planning Statement and other documents.  Whilst the Council’s supplementary planning guidance set out a presumption against subsequent alterations, extensions and outbuildings for converted barns, we successfully argued that the scheme would not harm the character and appearance of the countryside, and that its careful design, siting and landscaping would enhance the barn’s setting and the living conditions of its occupants.  Planning permission was granted.
